Meet 224: The New Global STEM Heroine
On February 11, in celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the STEM Women Congress officially launches Two-Two-Four (224), a new global STEM heroine created to inspire girls from an early age and contribute to closing the gender gap in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Two-Two-Four is not just a character. She is a symbol of curiosity, learning, and long-term impact, designed to help children—especially girls—see themselves as active participants in the scientific and technological future.
What is Two-Two-Four?
Two-Two-Four is a young heroine who explores different disciplines, environments, and moments in time, using science, technology, creativity, and collaboration to solve real-world challenges. Her stories are built around curiosity and critical thinking, showing that learning is a process that includes questions, mistakes, and growth.
She is not portrayed as a perfect genius, but as a relatable role model who learns by doing—just like the children she aims to inspire.
Her name has a powerful meaning:

It reflects the idea that actions taken today shape the opportunities of tomorrow and create lasting change for future generations.

Why Two-Two-Four?
Despite global efforts, girls remain significantly underrepresented in STEM careers. One of the key reasons is the lack of early, relatable role models that allow girls to imagine themselves in these fields.
Two-Two-Four was created to address this gap at its root.

A long-term vision for change
The launch of Two-Two-Four marks the beginning of a long-term commitment by the STEM Women Congress ecosystem to promote gender equality in STEM from the earliest stages of life. By working with children, families, educators, and communities, this initiative seeks to generate cultural change that goes beyond one-day awareness campaigns.
Today, February 11, the STEM Women Congress, with the support of Two-Two-Four (224), has launched the first official Two-Two-Four ebook as a gift to the Global STEM Women community. This inaugural edition has been published in all the languages of the countries that are part of the community, which today brings together more than 9,000 women and over 700 STEM initiatives worldwide. This first multilingual ebook represents a key milestone in making the Two-Two-Four project accessible, inclusive, and truly global from its very first step.
