“I am a Control and Automation Engineer with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, focused on Computational Intelligence, and currently a PhD candidate in Computer Science at UFMG. During my master’s research, I applied computer vision and deep learning techniques to automate sign language recognition, with a special focus on Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) and other sign languages.

My main areas of interest and research lie at the intersection of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, and Machine Learning, with a strong emphasis on STEM-driven solutions for healthcare and accessibility. I am passionate about leveraging AI to create technologies that improve people’s lives and promote inclusion.

Beyond academia and industry, I’ve dedicated part of my journey to education and social impact, working to expand access to education for underrepresented groups and to foster inclusive policies and greater awareness around deaf culture and sign language.“
