- The United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN-CSW-69) took place in New York this March and is the largest annual UN event dedicated to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Barcelona, January 22, 2025 – Global STEM Women, promoter of the STEM Women Congress, with a community of more than 6,000 women and representation in 7 countries, and born in Barcelona in 2018, participated in the 69th annual session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69), held from March 10 to 21, 2025, in New York. This year’s event addressed the priority theme of “Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls by addressing poverty and strengthening gender-responsive institutions and financing.”
Global STEM Women took part in a conference within the session “Time to Stop Gender Gaps in STEM Practice,” featuring a presentation by Eva Díaz, CEO of Global STEM Women and the STEM Women Congress, which took place on March 13, 2025, at 12:30 EST. Díaz stated: “Our participation in CSW69 was a unique opportunity to reinforce our commitment to gender equality in the STEM sectors and advocate for policies that ensure women and girls can access, study, and lead in these essential fields.”
During her speech, Díaz analyzed the factors contributing to the low representation of women in STEM fields, exploring their causes and possible solutions. She highlighted the importance of data-driven approaches, such as the STEM Atlas software and the development of the STEM Women Annual Reports in each country, key tools to identify gaps and design effective strategies. Her focus was on the need for concrete solutions that drive real change and accelerate the increase in the presence of women in the STEM field.
