STEM Women Congress Initiatives Awards
The STEM Women Congress is pleased to announce the launch of the STEM Women Initiatives Awards, which celebrate exceptional initiatives that foster change, promote inclusion and create opportunities in the STEM world. We encourage all project initiatives that are empowering individuals and inspiring communities to thrive in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields and that are part of our STEM Women Annual Report to apply.
The STEM Women Congress is pleased to announce the launch of the STEM Women Initiatives Awards, which celebrate exceptional initiatives that foster change, promote inclusion and create opportunities in the STEM world. We encourage all project initiatives that are empowering individuals and inspiring communities to thrive in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields and that are part of our STEM Women Annual Report to apply.
We are looking for projects that reflect dedication, innovation and a deep commitment to expanding opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in STEM.

Award Categories:
1. Inspiration Award
This category recognises initiatives that have served as role models and sources of inspiration within the STEM community. Whether through public speaking, mentoring or community activities, they have inspired others to pursue careers and dreams in STEM.
Criteria:
- Have initiative data recorded in the SWC Annual Report 2025 (Mandatory).
- Demonstrate leadership in STEM that has inspired women or underrepresented groups.
- Engage in outreach activities that highlight the importance of STEM for young people and professionals.
- Offer an innovative approach to help close the gender gap and promote diversity.
2. STEM Career Advancement Award
This award honours programmes and initiatives dedicated to the promotion and advancement of STEM careers for women. It highlights projects that have actively worked to make STEM careers more accessible and attractive to women by offering clear career paths and development opportunities.
Criteria:
- Have the initiative’s data recorded in the SWC Annual Report 2025 (Mandatory).
- Significant impact on promoting the professional development of women in STEM.
- Creation of educational programmes, scholarships or initiatives that encourage the participation of women in STEM careers.
- Collaboration with companies, schools and other institutions to advocate for more inclusive hiring practices.
3. Entrepreneurship Support Award
This category highlights initiatives that offer support for entrepreneurship in STEM. These initiatives provide crucial resources, mentoring and guidance to help women start and scale businesses in technology, science or engineering sectors.
Criteria:
- Have the initiative’s data recorded in the SWC Annual Report 2025 (Mandatory).
- Programmes that support women-led startups or provide resources for women entrepreneurs in STEM.
- Demonstrated impact through mentoring programmes, financial support or networks that foster entrepreneurship.
- Fostering innovation and leadership among women seeking entrepreneurial opportunities in STEM.
Eligibility and Nomination Process
Nominations are accepted from organisations, educational institutions, NGOs and individuals who have significantly contributed to the advancement of gender equity in STEM.
Nomination Period: 01 April 2025 – 20 April 2025
Submission Instructions:
Each nomination must include a detailed description of the initiative and its impact.
Provide supporting evidence, including metrics, testimonials or case studies that demonstrate the effectiveness of the initiative.
All nominations must be submitted via the online form available on our official website.
Evaluation Process
All applications will be reviewed by a panel of STEM Women Congress experts who will be announced prior to the congress in Madrid. Winners will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Innovation: How creative and unique is the initiative?
- Impact: What measurable changes has the initiative achieved?
- Sustainability: Can the initiative be scaled up or replicated in other areas?
- Relevance: How well does the initiative address current gender equity challenges in STEM?
Awards Ceremony
Winners will be announced at the STEM Women Congress Awards Ceremony, to be held on 06 May 2025 at CaixaForum Madrid. The event will bring together leaders, advocates and pioneers in STEM to celebrate the achievements of these outstanding initiatives.
