Elas pelas Exatas began as a social project promoted by a group of students from the Escola Politécnica da USP in March 2019. Motivated by the desire to increase the participation of young women in the Exact Sciences, its members began developing a program of activities that would spark this group’s interest in pursuing a degree—or later a career—in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Since then, the collective has developed several initiatives to achieve its goal, including programming and robotics courses, lectures, workshops, discussion groups, and even a series of live streams broadcast on social media during the pandemic.

Currently, the project also includes students from other programs and colleges and remains an Outreach Activity at Poli-USP.
